About
Headland shaped like a dolphin’s snout, guarding the harbour, with a lighthouse and sweeping port views.
Dolphin’s Nose is the rocky headland that juts into the sea south of the city, shaped, as the name says, like a dolphin’s snout. It shelters Visakhapatnam’s harbour and is visible from almost every point on RK Beach.
A lighthouse stands on top, its beam visible far out at sea. The road up to Yarada Beach climbs over the hill, and the viewpoints along the way give some of the best views anywhere of the port, the city skyline, the Bay of Bengal and the Yarada bay on the other side.
Much of the hill lies within a naval and port area. Visitors can use the public road and its viewpoints, but parts of the headland, including the lighthouse itself, may be closed or need permission. Check the current rules before you go.
