About
Windy roadside viewpoint over the Araku hills near one of the highest peaks of the Eastern Ghats.
Galikonda, “windy hill”, is one of the highest peaks in the Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh. The viewpoint on the ghat road below it is a popular stop on the drive to Araku Valley.
From the railing you look across layer after layer of forested hills, coffee plantations and tribal hamlets, often with clouds drifting through the valleys. Stalls sell roasted corn and tea, and the cool wind is a welcome change from the coast.
It is a short stop rather than a destination, best combined with Ananthagiri, Borra Caves and Araku on a day trip.
