About
Rocky cove and sand below Tenneti Park, with tide-carved rocks and a stranded cargo ship.
Jodugullapalem Beach is the stretch of shore directly below Tenneti Park, next to the fishing hamlet of the same name. Many visitors simply call it Tenneti Park Beach. Steps and paths lead down from the park to the sand.
The beach is known for its striking rock formations: layers of folded khondalite rock, worn into ridges and pools by the waves, that geology students from local universities come to study. A cargo ship that ran aground on the rocks during a storm still sits offshore and has become one of the city’s favourite photo subjects.
Sunrise here is spectacular, with the sun coming up over the open sea and lighting the rocks. The sea is rough and there are no lifeguards, so enjoy it from the shore.
