A gentle crescent of sand between RK Beach and Kailasagiri, quieter and good for evening walks.
Lawson’s Bay is the graceful crescent of beach that curves north from the city towards the foot of Kailasagiri. Seen from the hilltop it is one of the most photographed views in Vizag, a clean arc of sand between the sea and the colony behind it.
At ground level it is a calm, residential beach. Locals come for morning walks and jogs, children play cricket on the sand, and a small park on the seafront has benches facing the water. It is noticeably less crowded than RK Beach, especially on weekdays.
The water is rough and there are no lifeguards along most of the stretch, so treat it as a place to walk rather than swim. A World War II–era bunker, partly washed away by the sea, is a reminder of the city’s coastal history.
