About

A large fishing village with a lighthouse, sea stacks, salt pans and mangroves.

Pudimadaka is one of the biggest fishing villages on the coast south of Visakhapatnam, about 55 km from the city. A red-and-white lighthouse stands above the beach, and dramatic sea stacks rise from the water just offshore.

Behind the shore are salt pans, mangrove creeks and the village harbour, where long rows of colourful boats unload the morning catch. The mix of working harbour, lighthouse and rocky sea makes it a rewarding stop for photographers.

There are a few small eateries in the village but no tourist facilities on the beach. The sea is rough.
