About
A giant Tupolev TU-142 naval patrol aircraft you can walk inside, opposite the submarine.
The TU-142 Aircraft Museum is built around a Tupolev TU-142M long-range maritime patrol aircraft that flew with the Indian Navy for 29 years before it was retired in 2017. The aircraft, with its huge contra-rotating propellers, now sits on Beach Road directly across from the Kursura submarine.
Visitors can climb aboard to see the cockpit and crew stations, then walk through an exhibition hall on naval aviation with models, equipment, medals and the story of the aircraft’s service.
The museum is run by VMRDA and forms part of the city’s beachfront museum complex along with the submarine and the Sea Harrier museum next door.
