About
Memorial on Beach Road to the sailors who died in the 1971 war, with an eternal flame.
Victory at Sea is a war memorial on Beach Road built by the Eastern Naval Command to honour the naval personnel who lost their lives in the 1971 India–Pakistan war, when the Navy played a decisive role in the Bay of Bengal.
A tall tapering pillar rises from a landscaped circle, with an eternal flame at its base. Decommissioned aircraft and weapons are displayed around the site.
Wreath-laying ceremonies are held here on Navy Day (4 December) and Vijay Diwas (16 December). The memorial is floodlit at night.
