About
The temple of the city’s presiding goddess, worshipped in an open sanctum in Old Town.
Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi is regarded as the presiding deity of Visakhapatnam, and her temple in Burujupeta, Old Town, is one of the busiest in the city.
Unusually, the goddess is worshipped in an open sanctum without a roof, and devotees can offer worship directly to the image.
The Margasira month (November–December) brings a month-long festival with enormous crowds, especially on Thursdays.
